Art Therapy

Art Therapy

Get creative and connect with each other.

Dunlin

Art therapy can be described as a form of psychotherapy which uses art making as a mode of communication and enabling self-exploration. This supports people to gain a better understanding of themselves, as well as improve their mental health and emotional well-being.

The advantages of Art Therapy are wide ranging and can encourage people of all ages to:

  1. express feelings that are too difficult to talk about
  2. develop healthy coping skills
  3. improve self-esteem and confidence
  4. increase communication skills
Because art therapy uses a non-verbal approach, it is particularly helpful for people who feel uncomfortable with ‘talking’ therapies.
