S4Nd is a member-led organisation founded on mutual support and empowerment. Our aims, values and everything we do reflect these principles.

Aims and values

We are a national, member-led organisation of neurodiverse or neurodivergent people. We exist to promote greater embracing and understanding of neurodiversity, campaign for equality and inclusion for neurodiverse people and to encourage self-empowerment and mutual support amongst the neurodiverse community. 

Our work includes running members’ services and campaigning on neurodiversity issues. Our members run lively discussion forums in the S4Nd members’ area, to access join or log in.


S4Nd was founded in 2019 by chief executive officer, Angie Balmer, who was inspired by negative experiences receiving an autism diagnosis as an adult. With a main office in Calderdale, West Yorkshire and several local groups in across the country S4Nd is a national registered charity


Neurodiversity is a term that was first coined in the 1970s. It is used to describe people who are autistic (including Asperger’s Syndrome), dyslexic, dyscalculic, dysgraphic, Tourettic, dyspraxic (Developmental Coordination Disorder) or ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). 

All neurodiverse people can join S4Nd, a diagnosis is not needed. Friends, family and allies with lived experience of neurodiversity are also welcome.
